I had a meeting with CampInteractive, an organization that helps at-risk youth and underprivileged youth “step back into nature and forward into technology.”  This organization offers programs for youth to adventure out into nature and then document their experience using technology.  This helps them to learn about themselves as well as learn skills needed in today’s technology based world.  I am a member of the young executive board as well as a committee member on their grant writing committee. 

I had another great week teaching the girls involved in the P.I.N.S (Persons In Need Of Supervision) program at Y.E.S how to tap dance.  Next week will be our final week and we will see what they have learned about tap dancing and about themselves in the process of learning something new. 

This was a dinner to celebrate the Miss New York competition career of Stephanie Quimby. Congratulations to Stephanie for an incredible Miss New York career! Good luck with all you pursue in your future. Stephanie had great support at the dinner from Jack Carr, the State Board, the Thousand Islands Pageant Committee- ED Audrey Olin, Gary and Sue Pilon and Shelby Cohen and the new Miss Thousand Islands 2007, Ann Walck, as well as Jesse Ladoue, Miss Finger Lakes and the current Miss New York’s Outstanding Young Teen, Maria DeSantis. Also in attendance were Doug Nelson and Jeff Coyne. Chris Keefer also attended as well as Stephanie’s mom and NY Webmaster, Suzie Rupert. This is an annual event in Sackets Harbor where the community comes together to celebrate its history. I had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people as well as watching some incredible marching bands from area schools. I hope you enjoy the pictures! Unfortunately, it rained, but it held off long enough to keep the top down and throw some candy for the kids!

The girls are doing a great job! Today they learned a tap combination almost a minute long. I am so proud of how much they are learning in only two weeks. For those of you who haven’t been reading, I have the opportunity to teach at-risk children who are part of P.I.N.S. - Persons In Need of Supervision which is a program associated with Y.E.S.  I am teaching several young ladies how to tap dance as part of a four week mentoring program to help provide these young women with a productive activity during the summer along with a positive role-model experience.

The Dealmaker Hospice Golf Tournament is an annual event at the Thousand Islands Country Club on Wellesley Island to benefit the Hospice Foundation.  I was privileged to be a volunteer and guest at their event along with Craig Conroy, hockey player with the L.A. Kings and Chris Clark, hockey player with the Washington Capitals.  The tournament was estimated to raise around $85,000 for the Hospice Foundation.  I hope you enjoy the pictures!
